Why Citation Managers?

Citations managers are helpful tools when you are writing a research paper and need to keep track of many sources. Citation managers are unique in that they allow you to easily:

  • Format and create your resource list (bibliography) in various citation styles with the click of a button

They also allow you to:

  • Collect all of your resources in one place
  • Easily insert your in-text citations into your document when writing in Microsoft Word
  • Share bibliographies or full text with collaborators
  • Discover new resources and contacts

Citation Managers at your library

Some citation managers are free and others require a subscription. Your library will have resources to help you learn how to use the citation manager(s) they subscribe to. The link to your school's Citation Manager Guide is below. The guide also will have contact information for the librarian who can help you with it.
